Off campus, visitors of all ages can enjoy an array of Wilmington museums, art galleries, performing arts events and historic sites. From a nationally designated historic district to a thriving arts scene, Wilmington has charm and character that is not to be missed. Local museums and musical venues that should be on your bucket list include:

Cameron Art Museum: The Cameron Art Museum (CAM) in Wilmington provides a cultural gathering place that enriches the lives of museum visitors and the community through high-quality exhibitions, lifelong learning in the arts, dynamic public programs, and stewardship and interpretation of the collection.

Cape Fear Museum: Cape Fear Museum collects, preserves and interprets objects relating to the history, science, and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear.

Opera House Theater Company: The Opera House Theater Company is a long-running, roomy theater with stadium seating showcasing local Wilmington talent in a variety of well-known musicals.

Thalian Hall: Since 1858, the Thalian Hall building has had the unusual distinction of serving as both the area’s political and cultural center. This performing arts venue offers two stages for films, concerts and live theater.
