Non-Profit Elder Care - Overview

We provide quality health, wellness and rehabilitation services to aging adults in a loving, continuum of care environment in which each resident lives at an optimum level of function and dignity.

This nonprofit distinction means that decisions are guided by principle – not profit. Whether by investing in the highly trained professionals on our staff, the array of services we offer or the beauty of our facilities and campus, our local nonprofit board, leadership and employees are dedicated to making the The Davis Community campus a place where people choose to live and work.

Decisions regarding the type of care needed by a loved one are made in close cooperation with medical professionals. Based on the documented level of care needed, the following services are available on our campus.

Assisted Living

When living alone is no longer safe or secure, an assisted living community can provide support for activities of daily living that prolong independence.

Skilled Nursing Care

Skilled nursing care is a progression along the continuum of aging for many aging adults. Whether due to a short-term condition or as a result of continued failing health, skilled nursing care provides 24 hour a day care every day of the year in a residential setting.

Rehabilitation and Wellness

Rehabilitation services include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Therapy services are provided by Genesis Rehabilitation Services on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Wellness services include physical conditioning that help an aging individual remain healthy and physically active.

Respite Care - When a Temporary Stay is Needed

In addition to full-time residency options, Champions Assisted Living offers respite care. These short-term stays may be necessary after hospital visits or when a caregiver is on vacation or needs a break. Stays can range from a long weekend (3 day minimum) to a week or longer. Respite care can also be a good way to experience assisted living before making a long-term commitment. Respite care is subject to room availability.

End of Life Care

In addition to the services provided by campus medical and support staff, residents at Champions Assisted Living and The Health Care Center facing life limiting illnesses may select hospice and palliative care services provided in collaboration with Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCare Center and Liberty HomeCare and Hospice Services. Some specially designed private rooms at The Health Care Center are available at end of life to allow the family private time in a comfortable and supportive setting.
